dance poetry

dance poetry  / site-specific dance performance series
2012-2016

dance poetry is a dance performance series wherein short performances are to take place in different public authority spaces in Berlin. The performances concentrate upon the waiting rooms of civil offices in different districts and take place unannounced. The waiting room of a civil office unites people of all social levels, and of any complexion. They are there for a specified purpose and have to wait until their turn comes, without holding any other expectations. Here, the dance steps unexpectedly into the existing ambience and invites the waiting persons to be the audience. The audience cannot avoid the immediately state-finding action, and are united in this unprecedented situation. Their reactions are incalculable, and are at the same time an important part of the performance, with the potential to stimulate the dancers themselves, and force them to manage the unpredictable.

The individual performances are documented by video in order to produce short trailers for each location. Every location has own choreographic idea according to the specific space and atmosphere. The trailers are released on the Internet.
