Canan Erek is a Berlin-based choreographer, curator and artistic director. Her work spans contemporary dance, choreography, curatorial practice and cultural education.

She is the founder, artistic director and curator of PURPLE – International Dance Festival for Young Audiences, the only festival in Berlin dedicated exclusively to international contemporary dance for young audiences.

The 11th edition of PURPLE – International Dance Festival for Young Audiences in Berlin will take place between 16th and 24 January 2027.

From 9–13 June 2026, the final edition of Festival Tanz! Heilbronn took place under my direction. Following a change in artistic leadership at the theatre, the festival will not be continued. You can explore the programme I curated here.

I’m excited to join the jury of Tanzplattform Deutschland 2028 in Hanover and look forward to reviewing a wide range of dance productions through September 2027.

I am delighted to be one of the curators of the next AUGENBLICK MAL! Festival which will take place in 2027 in Berlin.
